Citizens mobilize against Trump Administration’s Detention-Center Abuses throughout USA

Numerous protests against conditions in detention centers at the U.S./Mexico border took place across the nation the weekend of July 12, 2019. A steady stream of details from the border is mobilizing people to call for immigrant detention centers to be shut down in a call for “Lights for Liberty.”

In June, a team of doctors, lawyers, and politicians visited these facilities and reported such conditions as lack of access to basic hygiene and nutrition.  Peaceful protests and vigils also highlighted the loss of life resulting from current Trump Administration immigration policies.

The photos were taken in downtown Toledo by La Prensa.
